Evaluation Conclusions

              

Korean American Community Services does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 3: Frequency and Attendance of Board Meetings - An organization shall have a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings per year of the full governing body with a majority in attendance, with face-to-face participation. A conference call of the full board can substitute for one of the three meetings of the governing body. For all meetings, alternative modes of participation are acceptable for those with physical disabilities.

Korean American Community Services does not meet this Standard because:

  • The board of directors did not hold a minimum of three evenly spaced meetings in the past fiscal year.
In addition, the BBB of Chicago & Northern Illinois requested but did not receive complete information on the organization’s governance and oversight, effectiveness measures, finances, solicitation materials, and fundraising disclosures and is unable to verify the organization's compliance with the following 8Standards for Charity Accountability: 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, and 19.
Korean American Community Services meets the remaining 11 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Programs

              

Korean American Community Services (KACS) is a comprehensive social service agency dedicated to meeting the needs of Korean Americans and other immigrants in the greater Chicago area. Their services include (but are not limited to): pre-school, toddler, and after school programs; parenting support groups; U.S. citizenship and immigration assistance; monthly pro bono legal clinics; public benefits assistance; crisis intervention; individual and family counseling; domestic violence services; school-based social work; ESL/Civics classes; IT and computing classes; job training and placement; free and low-cost health screening services at our Family Clinic; and senior programs such as Fall Prevention and Alzheimer's awareness.
