Evaluation Conclusions

Awty International School does not meet the following 2 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 9: Fund Raising Expense Ratio - Spending should be no more than 35% of related contributions on fund raising. Related contributions include donations, legacies, and other gifts received as a result of fund raising efforts.

Awty International School does not meet this Standard because:

  • According to its audited financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013, the organization's fund raising costs were 56% ($1,061,863) of related contributions, which totaled $1,888,607.

Standard 12: Detailed Functional Breakdown of Expenses - Include in the financial statements a breakdown of expenses (e.g., salaries, travel, postage, etc.) that shows what portion of these expenses was allocated to program, fund raising, and administrative activities. If the charity has more than one major program category, the schedule should provide a breakdown for each category.

Awty International School does not meet this Standard because:

  • Awty International School’s June 30, 2013 audited financial statements did not include a functional breakdown of expenses by three categories, program (s), fundraising and administration.  The Better Business Bureau currently requires this functional breakdown for all charities in both their audits and IRS Form 990s.
