Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, Inc.'s educational program provides youth with education and experience in the private enterprise economic system. Junior Achievement works with High School, Middle School, and Elementary School students, enumerated below: High School: offers students opportunities to learn about business, the global economy, saving and investing, careers, and interpersonal skills. Students have the chance to form and run their own company, work with various online computer simulations, and hear about the world from adult role models. Middle School: students receive lessons on the global marketplace, budgeting, choosing a career based on skills, or learning about economics through history. In addition, students are encouraged to continue their education past high school to be better prepared for the future. Elementary School: focuses on elementary-grade students; future roles as citizens, workers, and consumers and emphasizes the usefulness of school skills in everyday life, as well as the importance of staying in school. The capstone program for elementary school, Junior Achievement Exchange City, has students preparing to run their own city with lessons taught in the classroom and then a 5-hour visit to the Junior Achievement Exchange City facility where the students participate in an economic situation of a city day. Junior Achievement members reached approximately 4.4 million elementary and post-secondary students for the year ended 6/30/2014.
