Regarding Standard 8: "As stated from the BBB report for 2013, it appears that Houston Area Urban League, Inc. spent 63% on program activities. After reviewing the 2013 activities for “Special Projects” (from the audit report), we had expenses of $430K which needed to be capitalized rather than expenses as according to U. S. GAAP accounting standards. These capital expenses are related to the construction of a community center for the purpose of providing program services to residents in the area.” Eric Phillips, Finance Director
