The organization’s mission is to "help people help themselves."

Programs

              

Wesley House offers a variety of programs to low-income residents in distressed neighborhoods of Metro Louisville, as follows: Weskids Child Development Center - provides safe and affordable early childhood education to children six weeks to 12 years old. The program offers healthy menus and nutrition curriculum in accordance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program.Wesley House also provides American Sign Language through its Early Childhood Education program, and Arts Integrated Programs that offer percussion, dance/creative movement, visual arts to prepare pre-school age children for Kindergarten Readiness. The Youth Brigade Academy is designed to break the cycle of poverty and stereotypes and to motivate youth ages 6 - 18 toward self improvement by increasing their academic achievement, home work assistance, monitoring on Jefferson County School's Kid's Track, offering arts integrated services that include drama, dance, music and visual arts, building self-esteem, personal character, and confidence. Activities include: tutoring and homework assistance, health and fitness training, dance, crafts, computer training, life skills, goal setting, music summer camp, recreational activities. Louisville Works --an eight-week computer training program designed to help individuals with low income become economically stable and self-sufficient. Activities include: Computer instruction in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) Domestic & Family Violence Education, Financial Literacy, English as a Second Language, education, professional and job development training, support and advocacy for women moving from welfare to work. Wesley Wear House is a gently used store that provides clothing and household items to area residents. The store is staffed by volunteers that assist residents in selecting quality items at reasonable prices. The program also provides professional attire and clothing to individuals and families that participate in other agency services. Wesley House partners with Kentucky Refugee Ministries and provides targeted shopping opportunities for those who are from other Countries and reside in Metro Louisville. In addition to these programs, Wesley House works in close collaboration with other social service agencies to broaden the area of services it provides. As a member of the Louisville Asset Building Coalition, Wesley House offers volunteer income tax assistance (VITA) to low-income residents.
