Evaluation Conclusions


Fern Creek Highview United Ministries does not meet the following Standard for Charity Accountability.

Standard 11: Financial Statements - Make available to all, on request, complete annual financial statements prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. When total annual gross income exceeds $500,000, these statements should be audited in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards. For charities whose annual gross income is less than $500,000, a review by a certified public accountant is sufficient to meet this standard. For charities whose annual gross income is less than $250,000, an internally produced, complete financial statement is sufficient to meet this standard.

Fern Creek Highview United Ministries does not meet this Standard because:

  • The organization does not have audited financial statements for the past fiscal year, which is required for charities with revenues more than $500,000. 
Executive Director Ron Loughry said at this time an audit would be cost prohibitive for the nonprofit. Rev. Ron Loughry states, “ FCHUM’s annual budgets barely exceed the $400,000 level, but because of some assets it appears that income is much higher.” FCHUM does have an annual 990 prepared by a CPA. FCHUM also, periodically, has CPA financial reviews completed.

Fern Creek Highview United Ministries provides food, financial help for utilities and rent, and counseling on life processes. In addition, FCHUM is a state licensed health model Adult Day Care, operating from 8am-5pm during the week.
